Building Envelope System Products for Schools
A FREE virtual lunchtime webinar discussing Weathertightness Design Requirements for New School Buildings. 10 CPD points (NZRAB) / 1 CDP Point (ADNZ) / 1 LBP point.
Description
In September last year, the Ministry of Education (MOE) updated their guidance document titled Weathertightness Design Requirements for New School Buildings. This has brought about several important changes in the way New Zealand schools must be designed and constructed and the document references construction methods and product applications that you may not be familiar with.
Luckily, many of our pro clima Products can be applied to the details outlined in the MOE’s updated Weathertightness Design Requirements document.
Content
Join our virtual lunchtime presentation, where we will discuss some of these key design changes and how the pro clima System Products help address them.
Key changes in the September 2020 update:
- Cladding systems are not permitted to rely on sealant at their junctions and mechanical flashings must be provided
- Rigid air barrier board is mandatory for external framed cavity walls
- Warm roof form of construction is required for all new buildings with steel roof structures to help eliminate cold and aggravated thermal bridging (cold roofs allowable for timber frames)
- ’Above sheathing’ ventilation and vapour control layers at the ceiling level are now required for timber-framed cold roof constructions
- Concrete external walls require design or review by façade engineer to address condensation and thermal bridging issues
Those attending the presentation will be eligible for 10 CPD points (NZRAB) or 1 CPD point (ADNZ) or 1 LBP point, and will have the chance to engage with the pro clima Team in a Q & A session following the presentation.
