Thomas holds an engineering degree specialising in building physics and energy efficiency from the University of Applied Science in Rosenheim, Germany. Having worked in various roles in Germany, Japan, Australia and New Zealand, Thomas gained extensive professional knowledge on airtightness, thermal bridging, healthy homes, Blower Door testing and Passive House. In 2011 he was one of a team of expert authors who published A New Zealand Based Study on Airtightness and Moisture Management to highlight issues around interstitial condensation in New Zealand and defining Leaky Building Syndrome 2.0.
Currently in the role of Chief Executive of Pro Clima New Zealand, Thomas has been involved with Pro Clima New Zealand Ltd and Pro Clima Australia Pty Ltd since 2006, sharing knowledge with industry, associations and research institutions on how building standards and systems can be vastly improved. Pro Clima is a leader in the field of development and manufacturing of intelligent high performance sealing systems for thermal insulation in construction.
Thomas is passionate about growing the building industry knowledge by sharing his experience and has featured as a keynote speaker at numerous events organised by industry, regulatory and private organisations around Oceania. He is determined and dedicated to improving the building standards to create a long-term solution to ensure warm, dry, healthy, durable and energy-efficient living for everyone.
