Daniel Jakobs

Qualifications

Daniel Jakobs arrived in Australia from Germany with a Master Carpenter qualification, a Construction Engineering background, and over 25 years of experience in high-performance and ecological building — along with a European education mindset that treats craft, science, and site practice not as separate disciplines, but as one.

Known across the industry as AirBossDan, Daniel is the Technical Systems and Solutions Lead for Pro Clima Australia and New Zealand. His roots are in traditional carpentry — the kind of trade education where understanding why timber behaves the way it does is considered just as important as knowing how to work with it. That foundation, combined with hands-on experience across modular construction, large-scale commercial applications, and high-performance residential builds, gives Daniel a perspective that is genuinely difficult to replicate: he has worked at every level of the construction process, from the tools to the technical specification room.

What he brought to Australia — and continues to drive — is a raising of standards. European building practice has long understood that airtightness, moisture management, and weatherproofing are not optional upgrades or Passive House niche concerns. They are the baseline for any building that is expected to perform, last, and support the health of the people inside it. Translating that mindset into the Australian and New Zealand context, across builders, tradespeople, engineers, and developers, is the work Daniel has dedicated himself to — on stage, on site, and everywhere in between. He can fix anything. He will fix it with a smile. And if the detail involves moisture, vapour, or a construction challenge nobody else on site has seen before — there is a good chance he already has.
