Dive into Details: Ventilated Truss Roof
There are many benefits to ventilating the space between roof cladding and membrane and these benefits are just as relevant to truss roofs as they are to skillion roofs. In this session, we'll show you how to design and construct a ventilated truss roof.
Description
In the previous session, we introduced the concept of a ventilated roof cavity between the roofing cladding and membrane. Creating a drained and ventilated space between the roofing material and underlying membrane is an effective way to reduce overheating and to reduce the risk of accumulating moisture in a skillion roof.
The same concept applies to a truss roof.
This session follows on from the principles we introduced last time, and we’ll look at how to apply this to the more common New Zealand style of roof using trusses above a horizontal internal ceiling.
